JC's Power Rankings

JC’S Weekly Top 20 Power RANKINGS (02/08/17)

Another week of WWE is in the books and we have another PPV on Sunday. This time It is the SmackDown brands’ Elimination Chamber PPV. Like many of you, I am not a huge fan of the constant PPVs because I believe it greatly diminishes the product. That being said, the Elimination Chamber match is usually always entertaining and I can get excited for that.20170129_rr_show_cenatitle-123ac5e1ad07290bb588ad3559ff729d

  1. John Cena (Last Week – 1)

The WWE champion defeated Randy Orton in the main event of SmackDown Live this week with a little assist from Luke Harper. Cena should enjoy his week at #1 because my expectation is he will be dropping that title on Sunday.

  1. Braun Strowman (Last Week – 5)

ROOOOOOOOAAAAAARRRRRRRRR! Yup this is happening. Braun Strowman continued to destroy everything in his path as he defeated four jobbers in a match on RAW. He then stormed backstage and demanded more competition from Mick Foley. He is getting it at FastLane as he faces off with Roman Reigns. Braun then interrupted the main event and beat down Reigns. Braun Strowman continues to be one of the hottest talents in the company.

  1. Kevin Owens (Last Week – 3)

The WWE Universal Champion will face Goldberg at WWE FastLane in a few weeks and his reign as champion could be ending. The segment to set up this match was extremely strong as both Owens and Chris Jericho did solid mic work. Goldberg also carried his weight as well. KO has solidified himself at the top of RAW finally, but I expect that may change soon.

  1. AJ Styles (Last Week – 2)

The phenomenal one has never been lower than 2 since I have been doing these rankings. But after losing his title last week and being pinned by Baron Corbin this week, it is time to drop AJ. He has clearly been taking a backseat to other guys and I am curious to see where he is headed as we approach WrestleMania.

  1. Goldberg (Last Week – Not Ranked)

He’s back and Kevin Owens is NEXT! Goldberg accepted Brock Lesnar’s challenge for WrestleMania but also laid a challenge of his own to Owens for FastLane. Goldberg is getting the biggest reaction of any superstar on RAW and even at age 50 is still a top star.

  1. Bray Wyatt (Last Week – 6)

The leader of the Wyatt Family was not in action this week but attempted to help his cohort Randy Orton secure a victory in the main event of SmackDown until Luke Harper thwarted his efforts. Bray is one of the favorites to emerge from the Elimination Chamber with the WWE Championship.

  1. Randy Orton (Last Week – 4)

The viper predictably slips a few spots this week after his loss to John Cena on SmackDown Live. Orton faces Luke Harper at Elimination Chamber on Sunday, but then we begin the build towards his title shot at WrestleMania.

  1. Roman Reigns (Last Week – 8)

The leader of the Roman Empire main evented RAW this week against newly signed Samoa Joe. Reigns lost thanks to a distraction by Strowman and then was beaten down badly by the monster among men. Nonetheless, RAW did a good job getting us excited for this match in a few weeks.

  1. Baron Corbin (Last Week – 9)

The lone wolf got a huge pin fall victory over AJ Styles in a Fatal 4 Way match on SmackDown. Corbin continues to build momentum as we approach Elimination Chamber and I expect he will have a huge impact in this match.

  1. The Miz (Last Week – 10)

The beginning of SmackDown featuring The Miz and Daniel Bryan was the highlight of the show. Typical strong week for the most must see superstar in sports entertainment.

  1. Dean Ambrose (Last Week – 11)

The WWE Intercontinental Champion is the last person I would expect to win the WWE Championship inside Elimination Chamber this Sunday. But, I do hope Ambrose is part of some great spots in this match.

  1. Samoa Joe (Last Week – 12)

Samoa Joe kicked off RAW by signing his official RAW contract. Roman Reigns came out and issued a challenge to Joe, which he accepted. In the main event, Samoa Joe defeated Reigns picking up his first win as a member of the main roster. I am curious to see what Joe does next with Seth Rollins on the shelf, but regardless he is being treated like a top star right out of the gates.

  1. Chris Jericho (Last Week – 13)

Y2J had another stellar week on the mic and successfully defended his United States championship against Sami Zayn. Jericho got an assist from his best friend Kevin Owens in that match and I would expect a rematch to happen at FastLane in a few weeks.

  1. Neville (Last Week – 14)

The King of the Cruiserweights was interviewed by Austin Aries on RAW and learned a new #1 contender for his championship would be crowned on 205 Live. Neville continues to do top notch work in this division.

  1. Luke Harper (Last Week – Not Ranked)

YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH…Harper makes his first ever solo appearance in my power rankings this week. He is now a full-fledged baby face as he finally put his hands on his former mentor Bray Wyatt on SmackDown this week. Harper and Orton face off on Sunday and I expect that to be a highly entertaining match.

  1. Alexa Bliss & Mickie James (Last Week – 16)

Both Alexa Bliss and Mickie James I thought had extremely strong performances on the mic this week. I hope Alexa holds onto the title at Elimination Chamber, but I have a feeling her time may be up.1

  1. Charlotte (Last Week – 15)

The queen was not in action this week on RAW, but continued to torment both Bayley and Sasha Banks. Charlotte also learned she would have to defend her RAW Women’s championship next week on RAW against Bayley.

  1. The Club (Last Week – 17)

The Club continued to hold off Sheamus & Cesaro this week, but have new contenders in Enzo & Cass. Nonetheless, the RAW Tag Team Champions stay ranked.

  1. Dolph Ziggler (Last Week – 19)

Ziggler lost to Apollo Crews on SmackDown this week but then beat down both Crews and Kalisto again after the match. He later would be booked in a handicap match against both those men at Elimination Chamber.

  1. Naomi & Becky Lynch (Last Week – 20)

Both women have big matches at Elimination Chamber this Sunday. I thought Becky did a nice job on the mic this week in the contract signing segment. Naomi still needs work, but it is nice to see her being featured.

Fell from Rankings: Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn
