JC’S Weekly Top 20 Power Rankings (03/22/17)

RAW had some strong segments, but it was the blue brand which won the week. The first hour plus of SmackDown Live was fantastic storytelling and wrestling. The last few segments were mostly misses in my book, but overall the show was very strong two weeks away from WrestleMania.

How to fix the Smackdown Tag Team division in three easy steps

The Smackdown tag team division is a wasteland (Get it? It’s an Ascension joke). The whole division feels like filler on the “A-show” when it could easily be one of the better segments.

The way they utilize the group sometimes makes you forget they’re even there.

It’s time to make the Smackdown tag team division great again!

Here’s how they can do it in three easy steps. . .

RAW seemed to be giving us more of the same until a fantastic finish saved the show. Seth Rollins is at least partially cleared and appears on track to face Triple H at WrestleMania. On SmackDown, the top feuds had strong performances, but other aspects of the show came up short. Let’s check out this week’s ranks.

After a promising start in the WWE that included a tag team title match against The New Day, The Vaudevillains currently find themselves in tag team obscurity on Smackdown.

What did the duo do to find themselves in purgatory?

Was it because Simon Gotch injured Enzo Amore?

Was it because Gotch got into a backstage fight with Sin Cara?

Or is it just a matter of “creative doesn’t have anything for you?”

We’ll probably never know exactly what happened to the gentlemen grapplers. But one thing is for sure, there is still plenty of potential for one half of the floundering duo.

That’s why it’s time for Aiden English to step back into the spotlight for an encore performance as “The Artiste,” “The Drama King.”

But, fortunately for wrestling fans, SmackDown Live delivered in a big way on Tuesday with yet another top notch, fast-paced, entertaining show. Normally in a week leading into a brand exclusive PPV that show dominates the rankings. That will not happen this week.
