WrestleMania has come and gone and man what a weekend it was. I thought overall the entire show was very good and the Raw and SmackDown that followed the next two nights were fantastic. It will be hard to fit everyone in the rankings this week, but that does not mean I did not love their performances or debuts.
- Roman Reigns (Last Week – 7)
Not only did THE guy retire The Undertaker at WrestleMania, but Roman Reigns had one of the coolest segments in RAW history on Monday. He did not say a word for the longest time and the crowd was red hot. That is the epitome of THE top guy. Love him or hate him, he is the one.
- The Hardy Boyz (Last Week – Not Ranked)
Matt and Jeff debuting in the second spot probably is surprising to many of you. But their debut was fantastic and they won the championships. Oh, and they defended them successfully on RAW. That is quite the week. They deserve to be here.
- AJ Styles (Last Week – 1)
The face that runs the place got a superb match out of Shane McMahon at WrestleMania. I was stunned it kicked off the show, but that was the right call. I expect another great year from AJ.
- Brock Lesnar (Last Week – 17)
The beast incarnate defeated Goldberg to become the new Universal Champion. Lesnar and Goldberg had a very entertaining 5-minute fight that far exceeded my expectations for them. Lesnar is now back in the saddle on RAW and it appears both Roman Reigns AND Braun Strowman could be on the horizon.
- Randy Orton (Last Week – 6)
The viper is the new WWE Champion after defeating Bray Wyatt in what I considered the weakest match on the show. It felt rushed and was a big disappointment to me. But nonetheless, this feud continues with a returning Erick Rowan and I am optimistic for where it could go.
- The Miz & Maryse (Last Week – 2)
The IT couple lost to John Cena & Nikki Bella at WrestleMania, but their performances in that match and on SmackDown Live impersonating Cena and Nikki were top notch. The future for this duo is bright and if Nakamura truly is next for The Miz, buckle up because I think it will be a hell of a ride.
- Kevin Owens (Last Week – 9)
The new United States champion defeated his former friend Chris Jericho at WrestleMania in another solid match. I am happy Owens is finally rediscovering his violent and dominant self and maybe holding down the mid-card for a while is the way to do it.
- Bray Wyatt (Last Week – 3)
Bray lost to Randy Orton as mentioned earlier, but I am still very high on Bray’s future and think that title could return to the Wyatt Family soon enough.
- Braun Strowman (Last Week – 8)
The monster among men was unable to win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania, but Braun interrupted Brock Lesnar on Monday Night RAW and made my dreams start to come true. I want #BraunvsBrock and we could be getting it at some point.
- Seth Rollins (Last Week – 10)
The architect was able to compete at WrestleMania and defeated his former mentor Triple H. Not sure what is next for Rollins, but he appears healthy and ready to go after he also competed in the main event of RAW.
- Neville (Last Week – 12)
The King of the Cruiserweights showed why he is just that by defeating Austin Aries at WrestleMania to retain his Cruiserweight Championship. Neville’s revitalization is one of my favorite stories in wrestling over the past year and I look forward to seeing who steps up next to challenge the King.
- The Revival (Last Week – Not Ranked)
SAY YEAHHHHHH! Finally, JC’s hope came true and The Revival is here to change the game in tag team wrestling! Answering an open challenge by The New Day was a nice homage to when I hoped for this way back when New Day was breaking championship records.
- John Cena & Nikki Bella (Last Week – 16)
Well not only did this couple defeat The Miz & Maryse but they are now engaged after John Cena proposed after the match. Hard not to give them some props after that week even though it was fairly lame.
- Finn Balor (Last Week – Not Ranked)
I bet many of you expected the Demon King to be higher on this list. I am not there yet until I see his next feud and story. We all knew he was coming back, so the impact wasn’t as amazing as The Hardy Boyz and The Revival’s debut were in my opinion. But nonetheless, I love Balor and am thrilled he has returned.
- Shinsuke Nakamura (Last Week – Not Ranked)
The king of strong style has finally arrived on the main roster after he interrupted The Miz & Maryse on SmackDown Live. The only reason Nakamura isn’t higher on this list is because he didn’t do anything yet. I loved the entrance though and hope he will be feuding with The Miz.
- Sheamus & Cesaro (Last Week – Not Ranked)
One of my favorite tag teams is now the #1 contenders for the RAW Tag Team Championships. If the spot these two took at the hands of Jeff Hardy at WrestleMania is any indication of what we could be getting in this feud, then let’s go! Lot of potential for some crazy stuff.
- Baron Corbin (Last Week – 13)
The lone wolf lost to Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania in a match that clearly got bumped and forgotten. But, on SmackDown Live we finally got out street fight between these two and Corbin was victorious. The crowd was even cheering for the lone wolf, which of course made me happy. I expect great things in 2017 for Corbin.
- Dean Ambrose (Last Week – Not Ranked)
As mentioned above Ambrose got the win at WrestleMania, but I expect his Intercontinental title reign could be ending soon.
- Tye Dillinger (Last Week – Not Ranked)
Another one of JC’s hopes finally came true on SmackDown as the Perfect 10 made his debut by defeating Curt Hawkins. I do not know the ceiling for Dillinger on the main roster, but one thing is certain, the crowd will love him night in and night out for the foreseeable future.
- Naomi (Last Week – Not Ranked)
Orlando was feeling the glow as Naomi became a two-time SmackDown women’s champion. The human glow stick defended her title against Alexa Bliss on SmackDown Live as well. I am looking forward to seeing who is next in line to challenge for the blue brand’s women’s title.
Fell from Rankings: Chris Jericho, Triple H, Austin Aries, Alexa Bliss, Sami Zayn, The Usos, Samoa Joe, Goldberg
