JC’S Monthly Top 20 Power Rankings (11/28/17)

It is everyone’s favorite time of the month! JC’s Monthly Top 20 Power Rankings are back just in time for the holiday season! As we head into the new year some new faces are surfaced in the women’s division and young upstarts in the men’s divisions are making headway as well. A quick note before we get started, The Miz will be excluded from the rankings until he returns to WWE TV. Same is true for John Cena and Triple H.

  1. Roman Reigns (Last Month – 1)

The big dog is now a Triple Crown champion after defeating The Miz to win the Intercontinental championship last week. Reigns is reunited with his Shield brethren who got a big win over The New Day at Survivor Series. The Reigns train is red hot as we head into the new year and remains the face of WWE.

  1. Brock Lesnar (Last Month – 2)

The WWE Universal Champion is likely off television until the new year, but the Beast Incarnate has continued his dominance over the RAW brand and just defeated AJ Styles at Survivor Series. The only reason he is not one is because he is not around again.

  1. AJ Styles (Last Month – 7)

The phenomenal one defeated Jinder Mahal a few weeks back to become a 2-time WWE champion. That title and the SmackDown brand have never been better than when AJ Styles is the champ that runs the camp. No doubt he should be near the top of this list.

  1. Braun Strowman (Last Month – 3)

The Monster Among Men continues to break barriers in WWE. His destruction is featured every single week and he could easily be number one in these ranks. The feud with Kane has been violent, but I think we’re all over Kane and that is what is holding Braun back.

  1. The Usos (Last Month – 11)

The best tag team on the planet is the SmackDown tag team champions, The Usos. Jimmy and Jey continue to rack up title reigns and great matches. Tag team wrestling has been red hot in WWE this year and The Usos are the main reason why.

  1. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn (Last Month – 4)

This dynamic duo is the most entertaining act on SmackDown Live currently and I am loving every second of it. This new and improved Sami Zayn is so good and he is the perfect match for Kevin Owens. These two are great in the ring and outside of it and have so much potential storyline wise. I am curious to see how the WWE handles it.

  1. Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins (Last Month – 8)

The Shield lost their tag team championships to The Bar before Survivor Series, but decimated The New Day who cost them those championships. There is a lot of speculation for what is next for Ambrose & Rollins, but I would bet they win back their championships next week on RAW.

  1. Alexa Bliss (Last Month – 9)

The goddess of WWE continues to be one of the best acts on RAW and remains one of my personal favorite characters. Alexa has a lot of competition with a returning Paige added to Sasha Banks, Mickie James, Bayley, Nia Jax, & Asuka. The RAW women’s division finally seems to have some depth and I am excited for what is to come.

  1. Charlotte (Last Month – Not Ranked)

The queen finally won the SmackDown Live women’s championship from Natalya a few weeks ago saving me from boredom and frustration. Now Charlotte truly gets to be the focal point of the blue brand and I hope it elevates the whole division once again.

  1. Kane (Last Month – Not Ranked)

The big red machine is nobody’s favorite anymore, but he is getting pushed to the moon as he continues his feud with Braun Strowman. Kane returned out of nowhere and the execution of this storyline has been very meh, but Kane has been treated like a big-time player so he will be ranked as such.

  1. Elias (Last Month – 18)

WHO WANTS TO WALK WITH ELIAS? Oh, I definitely do. This guy is an absolute stud and delivers every nanosecond he is on our screens. I thought he had a superb match with Roman Reigns on this week’s RAW and his mic work is some of the best right now. I look forward to what the future holds for Elias.

  1. Samoa Joe (Last Month – Not Ranked)

Samoa Joe is the newest WWE superstar to get a new moniker. He is now “the prize fighter” as Booker T threw down our throats on Monday. I like Joe and I like that they have found a way to keep him looking strong since his return a few weeks ago. A feud with Roman Reigns makes sense as we struggle through the end of the year and I look forward to some physical matches.

  1. The Bar (Last Month – 14)

Sheamus & Cesaro continue to quietly rack up title reigns. These two are a great pair (the one good thing Mick Foley accomplished) and their chemistry with The Shield is great. I would like to see an influx (cough, The Revival) enter this division to spice it up and feud with these two soon.

  1. Asuka (Last Month – Not Ranked)

NOBODY IS BETTER THAN ASUKA! The streak remains intact and likely will for the foreseeable future. Absolution has their sights set on the Empress of Tomorrow and I cannot wait for Paige vs Asuka. WWE has something special here and I hope they execute it well.

  1. Absolution (Last Month – Not Ranked)

Paige is back and she brought some friends in Mandy Rose and Sonja Deville. Paige is a badass and I have been clamoring for her return for months and I am thrilled it has finally come. This storyline is interesting and I hope they keep the interest high because this RAW women’s division is loaded with talent and potential. Oh, and Mandy Rose is unbelievably gorgeous so that helps too.

  1. Jinder Mahal (Last Month – 6)

The Maharaja lost his championship and could plummet back into irrelevancy sooner rather than later. The Jinder championship reign was greeted by mixed reviews to say the least, but overall I enjoyed it. I do think this character is still a strong heel, but I am worried what he does after Clash of Champions if he does not regain his title.

  1. Baron Corbin (Last Month – 17)

The United States champion got a big win over The Miz at Survivor Series in the dark horse match of the night. Corbin continues to get better and better and I am loving he is getting his chance as United States champion. The sky truly is the limit for the Lone Wolf.

  1. Finn Balor (Last Month – 12)

The Demon is not a cruiserweight as much as Nestlemania likes to try and declare. Balor is special and will have his time at the top once again, but it does not look like it is coming soon. I’m a fan of Finn and enjoy his matches. I would love to see him challenge Brock at the Rumble (and I know all of you agree by the poll numbers), but I am not so optimistic anymore. For now, Finn clings to a ranking, but hopefully soon he can shoot back up to the top.

  1. The New Day (Last Month – 10)

This trio was revitalized this summer when they feuded with The Usos and have continued to be one of the more entertaining and show stealing acts in the company since that time. Their feud with The Shield was good and they still cannot have a bad match. The end could finally be near for this trio, but who knows we have thought that before.

  1. Enzo Amore (Last Month – Not Ranked)

The WWE Cruiserweight champion is annoying. He is not the greatest wrestler, but damn Enzo is still one of the best on the mic. He has made 205 Live more interesting and that is why he is now a 2-time champion. I do think his reign ends sooner rather than later, but I like the interest he has brought to this division in recent months.

Fell from Rankings: The Miz, Shane McMahon, Neville, Rusev, Nia Jax, Shinsuke Nakamura
