There should be one BIG requirement for WWE Hall of Fame “celebrity wing” inductees

When WWE announced Kid Rock as the 2018 “celebrity wing” inductee to the Hall of Fame, I could feel a collective eye roll from a large portion on the WWE Universe.

WWE used his song, “American Badass,” as The Undertaker’s entrance music for six months in 2000. He has also performed on RAW, Tribute to the Troops and Wrestlemania. Cool. . .

If we’re putting musicians in for their music alone, where’s Limp Bizkit? They performed Undertaker’s “Rollin'” (his entrance music for three years) and “My Way” is featured in arguably the greatest pre-match montage of all time for The Rock vs. Steve Austin at Wrestlemania X7.

Hell, I’m shocked they didn’t put Flo Rida in before Kid Rock. He pretty much makes a yearly appearance at the “Showcase of the Immortals” at this point.

Hear me out, I don’t HATE the idea of the “celebrity wing” of the Hall of Fame. I definitely don’t think there has to be an inductee every year (they didn’t have one in 2017!). I just feel like every inductee should have had at least one physical altercation with a WWE Superstar.

I had no problem with the original inductees, Pete Rose (took multiple finishers from Kane), “Refrigerator” Perry (competed in a Battle Royal at Wrestlemania II), Bob Ueker (choked by Andre the Giant), Drew Carey (participated in 2001 Royal Rumble), Mike Tyson (had memorable run-ins with Stone Cold and DX), Donald Trump (took a stunner from Stone Cold), Mr. T (wrestled at Wrestlemania I and II) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (attacked Triple H on Smackdown)

My gripe is in the recent years. Sure, Snoop Dogg hosted the “Bunnymania” match, but he and Kid Rock were straight up musical guests.

Now, I’m not saying we should put Machine Gun Kelly into the Hall of Fame right now for getting powerbombed off the stage by Kevin Owens. I just think WWE should be giving the “celebrity” spot a little more thought.

Here’s a couple quick ideas off the top of my head. . .

Why hasn’t Lawrence Taylor been inducted yet? He WON a singles match against Bam Bam Bigelow at Wrestlemania XI. I’d hope he’s at least in consideration for next year it MetLife Stadium.

Floyd Mayweather brings a little bit of baggage with him – which is probably why he hasn’t been inducted – but he also won a singles match on the grandest stage, beating The Big Show at Wrestlemania XXIV.

If Vince wants to really piss off the IWC he should give the celebrity spot to David Arquette one of these years. Love it or hate it, he was the freakin’ WCW Champion at one point. That’s got to be worth at least a little consideration.

How about Maria Menounos? She’s hosted a number of events for WWE (including the Hall of Fame show) and fought alongside Kelly Kelly against Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres.

There’s many more where those came from.

I’m not picky, WWE. All I’m asking is for a celebrity who is willing to get their hands dirty.

UPDATE: Shortly after publish, friend of the Jobber Knocker, Todd Graham, pointed out that Andy Kaufman still isn’t in the Hall of Fame! He’s a SLAM DUNK for the “celebrity wing.” What are we doing, WWE? We put Kid Rock in the Hall of Fame before Andy Kaufman? WHAT. ARE. WE. DOING!?!?!?
