The Jobber Knocker staff have made their picks for the 2017 Knocker awards. The winners are. . .
The Universal Champion is supposed to be the face of RAW.
Well, the face of RAW hasn’t shown his face since the night after Wrestlemania.
Wrestlemania. . .
It’s Nestlemania’s Christmas. It’s the showcase of the immortals. It’s the ultimate thrill ride.
This year I had the chance to live it, and it was truly everything I could have imagined. . . and more.
RAW had some strong segments, but it was the blue brand which won the week. The first hour plus of SmackDown Live was fantastic storytelling and wrestling. The last few segments were mostly misses in my book, but overall the show was very strong two weeks away from WrestleMania.
RAW seemed to be giving us more of the same until a fantastic finish saved the show. Seth Rollins is at least partially cleared and appears on track to face Triple H at WrestleMania. On SmackDown, the top feuds had strong performances, but other aspects of the show came up short. Let’s check out this week’s ranks.
FastLane was a major disappointment overall and left a sour taste in all our mouths as we head towards WrestleMania. Goldberg is the new WWE Universal Champion after wrestling less than one minute total since he has returned to WWE. Both Charlotte and Braun Strowman saw long winning streaks snap on this meaningless PPV. Lets get to the rankings…
“What are we going to do with David Arquette as our champion?”
Famous last words for WCW.
Love it or hate it, Fastlane happened and now we’re on the final stretch to Wrestlemania.
In the FIRST edition of the DQ Review, I’m going to give some brief thoughts about each match.
Yes, I did go 7-1 in my predictions (taking down Guthrie’s reign), but it doesn’t mean I’m happy about the results.
When reading the results, keep in mind that I have invested interest in these outcomes because I will be in attendance at Wrestlemania next month.
In what should have been a strong RAW leading into their FastLane PPV on Sunday, the 3 hour show failed to deliver. In other words, RAW was awful. But, fortunately for wrestling fans, SmackDown Live delivered in a big way on Tuesday with yet another top notch, fast-paced, entertaining show. Normally in a week leading into a brand exclusive PPV that show dominates the rankings. That will not happen this week.
Elimination Chamber crowned two new champions on Sunday in Bray Wyatt and Naomi. RAW also crowned a new champion in Bayley in what continued a big week in WWE. RAW was fast-paced and had multiple extremely entertaining segments most notably the Festival of Friendship. SmackDown had a phenomenal main event for the WWE championship as well.
